2018 Membership Letter

Dear Member,

Red Hawk hopes this letter finds you and your family in good health. We can’t believe that it is already November and our golf season is slowing down. The good news is that the weather is forecast to be mild this winter. Hopefully, you will take advantage of this mild weather and we will see you around the club. Bring a friend or relative and show them around the facility. If they have an interest in golf, point them in my direction. Let’s keep our old course going and growing for future generations. Speaking of keeping the old course going, we have made some significant improvements this year. We have resurfaced and striped the parking lot. We are about to resurface more of the cart paths with the help of funds raised through the Roger Seibert Memorial Tournament. This year we have been partnering with Southern Illinois Landscaping and Mr. Alex Eade to keep our course in top shape. Alex has been invaluable as our turf specialist consultant and our able maintenance crew has responded well to his guidance. A special thank you goes out to our volunteers: Don (Shorty) Kellerman, Max Witbracht, Gayland Chancey, and Bill Whitman. We could not keep this course going without everyone’s help! This year we have enhanced our golf cart fleet by leasing carts from Little Egypt and we will continue doing so next year. Our mechanic, Anthony Kellerman, has also been doing his part to keep our carts well maintained.

It is important to us to make Red Hawk a fun place. Our Monday evening Ladies League has continued to grow and evolve into an evening enjoyed by not only the ladies, but their spouses as well. The Tuesday night Men’s League has maintained its loyal following and the Thursday night Mixed Scramble has flourished. We so appreciate your support of the golf course but also the support of the food and beverage in the Clubhouse. We are very proud of our facility under the amazing supervision of Erica Nehrkorn and Kevin Mayer. Please continue to sample our daily specials and remember our beautiful venue for any of your celebrations.

Please know that Michelle and I are committed to keeping Red Hawk a success for the future. We would very much appreciate your continued help and support. Don’t forget to encourage others to join the Red Hawk family and please keep your suggestions coming on how we can continue to improve our facility. Let’s all do our part to make Red Hawk and golf, in general, a great experience. Holiday blessings to you all!

Sincerely,

Dan & Michelle Breslin

2017 Membership Letter

Dear Red Hawk Member,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Red Hawk would like to thank you for your past patronage and we look forward to having you as a member in 2017. This past year has been especially challenging. We have dealt with cleaning up after last December’s tornado, two days of historic flash floods with 15 inches of rain, vandalism, diseases on the greens, and the unexpected departure of our superintendent. However, we have survived and we will grow from these experiences and be stronger in 2017. The golf year is not over yet and we may still have some good golfing days left. Please come out and support your club.

Once again, we would like to thank the Roger Seibert Tournament Committee especially Marsha Seibert, Amy Kellerman, Liz Hale, Judy Needham, Carol Voorhees, Kim Hayes, Maggie Adcock and Robert Hepburn. With the money raised this year, we would like to make some capital improvements. In the near future we will expand our cement construction of cart paths. We also plan on purchasing a piece of equipment that will help with our aging greens. We held a raffle for a new EZGO cart in conjunction with the Roger Seibert Tournament. Michelle’s relative won the raffle and kindly donated the cart back to Red Hawk. We then traded it for two used carts in good condition to add to our aging fleet. We would also like to thank the Campanella family for donating some much needed white rock. We are using it to repair the cart paths. Mr. Mark McDaniel has graciously agreed to take over the club championship. Please support him and have some fun with this great game! We are so pleased with the success of this year’s Men’s League and our mixed scrambles. We would like to thank Mike Leyba and friends for their leadership. Your involvement is what makes Red Hawk successful.

As always, we encourage all suggestions and ideas to make Red Hawk a better place. Our staff strives to make your visit to Red Hawk as pleasant as possible. Kevin, Erica, and the others will continue to treat us with delicious food from the kitchen and welcome you with their bright smiles. Our maintenance crew keeps focused on improving our course and we were blessed this year to have the help of Don “Shorty” Kellerman. He donated his time to keep this course well-manicured! Our priority for next year is to resolve the vacancy of the superintendent. We hope to find a new partner or supervisor as soon as possible.

In conclusion, Michelle and I would like to thank you for all your support. We love this course and want to grow old here, or maybe I should say older. With your help, we would like to focus on getting young families involved and creating a fun and inviting social atmosphere. We look forward to a new and exciting year in 2017!

Sincerely, Dan & Michelle Breslin
